The subject of the Programme is the training of scientists in the thematic areas of archaeology, Egyptology, ancient history and cross-cultural contacts in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Bronze Age and historical times. The Programme aims at:
- the acquisition of specific knowledge in the theory and methodology of the historical and archaeological research of the civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean and, above all, its techniques and analytical tools for the study and scientific consolidation of the theoretical and applied fields of archaeological science,
- the acquaintance of students with the critical processing of primary and secondary sources and the development of scientific methodology and operational tools for conducting research.
Graduates of the same department, of all departments related to the subject of humanities, pedagogy, social and political sciences of the Universities of Greece or of relevant recognized Universities of other countries, as well as graduates of Technical Educational Institutions (TEI) of a related subject are admitted to the Programme. The number of admissions is limited to a maximum of forty-five (45) postgraduate students per year.
The duration of the Programme is three semesters (18 months/90 ECTS). The first two are teaching semesters and the third is dedicated to writing the Postgraduate thesis. The teaching methodology includes ten synchronous teleconferences through the distance learning/virtual classroom system Big Blue Button and the asynchronous education platform Moodle.
